Subby Patel
Apologies if this has been posted before but yesterday we attended the funeral of one of our West Ham family subhas "Subby" Patel who sadly recently lost his battle with Cancer.
Subby and his son Shiv have followed our team over land and sea for years home and away .
A tremendous assembly of family, friends and West Ham family attended in Wolverhampton . Subby will be sadly missed taken too soon aged 55 . Bubbles was played and club flag draped over his coffin , rare for a Hindu ceremony but that man loved the club.

Re: Subby Patel
I've just heard about this as a mutual West Ham friend has texted me.

I'm really shocked actually as I haven't seen Subby for ages, partly because I haven't been going to matches as regularly for the last year or so and I didn't know he had cancer and wasn't aware of the funeral as we'd lost touch.

Me and the crowd I go with used to drink with Subby before matches and he was an absolutely top bloke. My thoughts are with Shiv who is also a great lad and a Hammer.

He literally used to go everywhere following the club and I was always struck by the number of people who knew him and would stop to chat with him when in the pub or concourse before matches. Loads of people seemed to know or recognise him.

I remember after one match, possibly Wolves away but I'm pretty sure it was West Brom thinking on it, we agreed to meet afterwards for a beer and he ended up taking me into some pub/social club that he knew round there with a load of his cousins and family in and food was being brought out as well, which was good stuff. I was made to feel really at home when he and Shiv were the only people in there I'd ever met before and we were the only West Ham!

Last time I saw him at a match was when we met up in the concourse before that heavy defeat at Man City in the League Cup when we got smashed to all corners. I'd seen him at Forest a few days before as well, as I said, he went everywhere and loved the club.

RIP to a true hammer and a top bloke.
